Press release on measures necessary due to gas leak at Százszorszép Kindergarten

The director of Százszorszép Kindergarten notified the local government by e‑mail, sent after 4:00 p.m. on November 14, 2025, that the institution had been disconnected from gas service by the provider due to an unexpected malfunction at the central gas distributor, and would remain so until the fault was rectified.

In order to provide safe care for the children, the local government immediately began preparing the necessary measures.

The kindergarten director notified parents, asking those with the possibility to arrange supervision for their child over the next week or until the fault is repaired. The institution’s head requested that parents provide feedback today on whether they can ensure supervision.

The local government takes care of all children. Depending on the number and needs of applicants, arrangements will be made for the placement of children either at the Százszorszép Kindergarten with alternative heating provided, or in the group rooms of nearby kindergartens. The local government, in cooperation with the Debrecen Institution Management Center, ensures that parents who do not require childcare but do require meals can take their children’s food from the institution.

The local government guarantees the safe care of kindergarten children in all circumstances and is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, ensuring that every child can return to their familiar environment.
