Registration and information requirements for operators of accommodation and catering establishments

The current legislation on the performance of commercial and accommodation services requires operators of accommodation and catering establishments to register and provide information to the National Tourist Information Centre (NTAK).

In the NTAK system, the task of the settlement notaries is to monitor the fulfilment of this obligation. In the cases initiated after the 1st of January 2025, in the event of failure to register with the NTAK, the notary is obliged to immediately prohibit the operation of the catering establishment and impose a fine of HUF 200,000 without consideration.

In the case of catering establishments that are also obliged to provide data, the notaries must apply a multi-stage sanction system without consideration due to the failure to comply with the obligation:

• A notice to terminate the violation with a deadline,
• Impose a fine and setting a deadline for the grace period,
• Temporary closure of the catering establishment (for a maximum of 90 days),
• Permanent closure, deletion from the register, fine (the fine may be up to 3% of the merchant’s net sales revenue from the catering activity, but not more than HUF 5 million).

The notary of the City of Debrecen draws the attention of the operators of accommodation and catering establishments to fulfil their registration and data provision obligations in the NTAK system.
