Road construction on Dessewffy Street and road renovation on Tímár Street

The road reconstruction works will start on Monday, the 29th of July 2024. 

In the framework of the D2030 programme, Debrecen will continue to pay special attention to transport development this year. A number of large-scale road renovation and construction projects are currently underway in the city. These are designed to ensure safe and comfortable transport for people living in the city and those coming from the agglomeration.

The section between Dobó and Ótemető streets will be paved with a total length of 357 metres, with a width varying from 3.25 to 5.5 metres, and with kerbs. During the phase starting on the 29th of July, the section between Dobó and Dembinszky streets will be paved for 78 metres in length and 5.5 metres in width. This will be followed by 279 metres of residential and recreational areas on the section between Dembinszky Street and Ótemető Street, including asphalt paving of the connecting roads in front of the apartment buildings, and the renewal of existing pavements. Street lighting will also be upgraded. As part of the project, the road will also be equipped with storm water drainage and connected to the existing system in the street. Subject to weather conditions, the works are expected to be completed by mid-October 2024, but the contractor will make every effort to complete the project as soon as possible.

The large-scale resurfacing of Tímár Street will also begin on the 29th of July 2024 with the installation of temporary traffic engineering devices and then preparatory works.  During the project, the contractor will replace the existing priority kerbs, construct new kerbs, mill and demolish the existing aged asphalt pavement, raise the level of existing utility fittings, replace local bonding layers where necessary, and resurface the road surface for a total length of 223 metres. Subject to weather conditions, the works at this location are expected to be completed by the end of August 2024. The contractor will again aim to complete the project as soon as possible.

During the construction works, temporary traffic restrictions and road closures are expected on the affected road sections. Please do not drive out of habit, but follow the temporary road signs.
