220 metres of solid asphalt pavement was laid along Északi sor and Vashámor streets.

On Északi Sor Street (behind the already constructed section between Érsek Street and Vashámor Street), a two-way traffic regime with a width of 4.25 metres was established. Vashámor Street, which has a one-way traffic regime, was established with a width of 3 metres (from Hátszeg Street towards Északi Sor Street). A total of 160 metres of closed stormwater drainage was also constructed as part of the project.

Debrecen has been investing significant resources in the development of the city’s transport system for many years, not only in the city centre or on the most intensively used transport corridors but also in the more remote areas of the city, Mayor László Papp on the 11 of September 2024. He pointed out that this year, Debrecen will be able to spend more than HUF 4 billion on small-scale road improvements, mainly on the initiative of the population, covering 57 streets as a whole or in part. This included the upgrading of eight residential streets.

He stressed that the city’s growth is increasing traffic, which is creating new challenges. For this reason, large-scale improvements are being made in partnership with the state and the government.

The mayor recalled that after the junction of Külsővásártér – Szoboszlói Road, the public procurement procedure for the reconstruction of the junction of Balmazújváros – Füredi Road and Szabó Lőrinc Street – Csigekert Street had recently been thriving.

Referring to the area concerned, he said it is one of the main traffic routes in the western part of the city and a junction of a very densely populated area. He added that significant developments will occur in Debrecen in the coming years.

“The development of the Debrecen-Józsa corridor, the main road 35, is one of the biggest challenges, a development that has been awaited for decades, for which the design contract has been signed and the design process has started, ” László Papp said.

He noted that Józsa will also be affected by another project, the Józsa Northern Bypass, which will also play an important role in diverting a significant part of the traffic coming from Hajdúböszörmény to the motorway above Józsa, as the new motorway junction of Józsa has been completed.

Ákos Balázs, deputy mayor and municipal representative of the area, pointed out that Józsa is one of the most dynamically developing parts of the city.

“We are focusing on three areas of development. The first is the development of educational institutions, as there are many young children in Józsa. The second is environmental protection, and the third is infrastructure development, including road network development,” he said.

He added that the completion of Északi sor -Vashámor Street has fulfilled a long-standing dream of the area’s residents.

Északi sor -Vashámor Street has been paved with solid asphalt for a total length of 220 metres. The project also included the construction of 160 metres of closed stormwater drainage.

This year, road construction was carried out on Jósa Miklós Street, and a large road repair was made on Várdai Miklós Street.
