Schaeffler Debrecen earns the university’s recognition for the practice-based training program
The Faculty of Economics has awarded Schaeffler Debrecen the “Excellent Training Partner” title at the University of Debrecen. This honour recognises the company’s commitment to experiential learning and its close collaboration with academic institutions. Currently, thirty interns are gaining hands-on experience at the Határ út facility, while four students are enrolled in the dual education program. Students have the opportunity to explore motion technology at two locations in Debrecen.
Schaeffler, a leader in motion technology with over 25 years of presence in Debrecen, has taken an active role in practical student education. As part of its talent development strategy, the company received this distinction from the Faculty of Economics for its robust internship and dual education programs. The award is given to organisations that foster strong professional ties with the university and play a vital role in nurturing future talent.
To help students deepen their technical knowledge, the company offers two options:
- The internship program enables students to gain insight into a multinational corporate environment while fulfilling their academic obligations.
- The dual higher education program targets high-potential individuals who wish to learn across various disciplines, supported by skilled mentors.
Schaeffler launched its internship program in collaboration with the University of Debrecen in 2010, becoming a pioneer in the region. Over the past fifteen years, hundreds of students have built their professional foundations at the company. Currently, thirty interns are involved in diverse fields, including accounting, logistics, HR, and marketing, with ten of them balancing their studies at the Faculty of Economics alongside their company responsibilities. Notably, seven interns secured full-time positions last year, reflecting the company’s long-term commitment to developing young professionals.
Introduced in 2014, the dual education program currently includes seventeen students who receive mentorship in specialised fields. Since February last year, students in MSc programs in Management and Organization, Accounting, Supply Chain Management, and Enterprise Development have been rotating through departments such as controlling, logistics, procurement, and project management—spending a semester in each.
Student training has always been prioritised at Schaeffler, which sees young professionals as the cornerstone of future workforce development. The company ensures top-tier training to equip students for successful career paths. The latest recognition by the university’s Faculty of Economics affirms the value of this commitment.
Following its integration with Vitesco Technologies, Schaeffler now operates two sites in Debrecen, where university students can engage with motion technology. In total, sixty interns and seventeen dual program participants are gaining experience across multiple disciplines within the company.
