Scholarships Awarded to Teachers Engaged in Talent Development
Nearly 300 teachers from 41 educational institutions have successfully applied for support from the ministry. Educators in Hajdú-Bihar County who carry out outstanding talent development work received their awards on Thursday in Debrecen.
Numerous talent development programmes operate in Debrecen, spanning public education, vocational training, and higher education. The development of young talents is supported everywhere by dedicated mentor teachers. Their work has been supported since 2023 by the nationwide Köbüki Scholarship Programme. This year, the scheme provides funding from a budget increased by one billion forints compared to last year, totalling HUF 2.5 billion.
This increase sends a clear message: talent development is a priority national cause. The scholarship offers tangible support, with successful applicants receiving HUF 75,000 per month for ten months, which can be used freely, as highlighted by Deputy State Secretary Annamária Pósánné Rácz.
This year, 11% of the awardees are from Hajdú-Bihar, a notably high proportion. More than half of the county’s scholarship recipients work in institutions operated by the Debrecen School District Centre. “More than 150 of our colleagues have received the scholarship – this is not only a source of pride for me, but also a sign that we are on the right path,” emphasised László Türk, Director of the centre.
According to Mayor László Papp, it is of key importance for the city to pay attention to its talents and support them in achieving their goals. “This is also the aim of the scholarships awarded by the city since 2016, which have by now become a key pillar of talent development,” he explained.
In Hajdú-Bihar County, a total of 297 outstanding teachers engaged in talent development from 41 educational institutions have received the scholarship this year.
