Seventh-grade Students Participating in the “Let’s Teach for Hungary Programme” Can Go Camping for Free
This summer, every seventh-grade pupil who takes part in the “Let’s Teach for Hungary Programme” will be able to attend free residential career-orientation camps organised by Hungary’s vocational training centres, as announced by Government Commissioner László György.
The aim of the initiative is to help young people who are about to choose a career path to become familiar with different professions, try out vocational training institutions, and gain new experiences.
The government commissioner highlighted that the programme reaches children who may previously not even have left their own settlements, or who, after entering secondary education, did not remain there for long. At present, after one year of mentoring, the dropout rate has fallen to 9 per cent compared with the previous 54 per cent, László György added. The government supports the “Let’s Teach for Hungary Programme” with HUF 2 billion per year, which also includes the summer camps.
“From May and June, every current seventh-grade primary school pupil participating in the ‘Let’s Teach for Hungary Programme’ will take part in a residential career-orientation camp lasting three or four nights, over four or five days. That is where we started, and that is where we have now returned,” said Government Commissioner László György.
Registration is now also open for the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre’s independently organised summer camps via the website www.dszc.hu.
