Solutions for E‑Scooters, Smartphones, and Pacemakers Included in the Broad Profile of Battery Manufacturer Now Present in Debrecen

Eve Power Hungary Kft.’s 400-billion-forint investment in Debrecen has reached a major milestone. At its plant with a total floor area of 450,000 square meters, the company will manufacture battery cells for the BMW Group. The development of production capacity is progressing according to plan. In the coming period, several areas will expand that support the processes necessary for the start of production and for stable operations.

At a press conference last week, the company not only spoke about its significant workforce expansion plans, but also about the strategic role of the Debrecen factory and trends in the global battery market. According to the company’s information, a recruitment campaign will be launched in the near future, within the framework of which they plan to hire approximately 400 new employees. The development further strengthens Debrecen’s economic weight, while in the long term creating stable jobs and new industrial capacities in the region, in line with the growing demand in Europe for electromobility and energy storage.

Responding to a journalist’s question at the event, Ádám Kovács, Head of Public and Government Relations at Eve Power Hungary Kft., said that the spread of electromobility is progressing at different rates by region. In Hungary, an average increase of 26 percent has been measured in the sales of electric vehicles, while in Romania a decline of around 30 percent has been observed. At the same time, the transition to electric-powered vehicles continues at a favorable pace in Western and Central Europe.

Ádám Kovács emphasized that, while the primary task of the Debrecen plant will be to serve the BMW factory, the Chinese corporate group has a broad profile and other units of the global company manufacture numerous types of batteries. As a result, energy storage solutions appear in smartphones, electric scooters, pacemakers, drones, and home energy storage systems as well.

In addition, the company also manufactures energy storage modules required for large-capacity solar power plants, a segment in which significant market expansion can be observed. As was noted, the market continuously finds areas where these products are needed, and Eve Power looks to the future with particularly positive expectations.
