Spectacular experiments at the ATOMKI Researchers’ Night presentations
Would you have thought that liquid nitrogen is -196 degrees Celsius? At the ATOMKI Researchers’ Night presentations, visitors can experience what this means in practice through spectacular experiments.
ATOMKI (Nuclear Research Institute) is once again waiting for visitors at the Researchers’ Night this year with special programs and spectacular, interactive experiments. Among other things, we can find out how a balloon, a leaf, or even an egg behaves in the extreme cold of minus 196°C.
On Friday, September 26, during the spectacular presentation titled “Cold, Colder, Coldest,” they will use experiments to demonstrate how the behavior of everyday materials changes when exposed to extreme temperatures.
During the programs, additional interesting facts will be revealed to visitors. During the presentation entitled “Speak to the Radio,” the technical director of ATOMKI will browse through his own radio collection.
The presentation will also shed light on what a “scale burner” and a “magic eye” are, what the inside of a tube radio looks like, what versions of the “Pacsirta” there are, what makes the folk radio special, and what kind of radio the soldiers used during World War II.
The programs are free to attend, but prior registration is required to participate. A more detailed description can be found on the official website of ATOMKI.
