Spring Cleaning Begins in Debrecen
As part of the spring clean-up in Debrecen, rubbish will be collected and the cleaning of roads, pavements, car parks and bus stops will be carried out. In total, 3.2 million square metres of public areas and 733,000 square metres of roads will be cleaned.
“This year we are allocating HUF 2.8 billion to public cleanliness and park maintenance tasks, of which nearly HUF 200 million will be spent on the spring clean-up, as it is important for us that residents can live in a high-quality, clean and liveable environment,” Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa wrote on his Facebook page.
He added that the city manages the money of Debrecen residents responsibly: the funds are spent on the city’s cleanliness, parks and the everyday environment of its residents, rather than on serving foreign interests. “As part of the spring clean-up this year, we will once again review and renew the city’s green areas. This includes litter collection, shrub pruning, the disinfection of playgrounds, and the cleaning of roads and pavements, as well as car parks, cycle paths and bus stops,” he wrote.
