Summer Closure Schedule Set for Debrecen Nurseries
Each year, decisions about the annual opening hours of kindergartens and nurseries are made at the beginning of the year so that parents, kindergarten teachers, and nursery caregivers can all plan their vacations accordingly.
In the case of kindergartens, the General Assembly’s Committee on Culture and Education is expected to make a decision in the near future, while for nurseries the Committee on Social and Health Affairs already made its decision at its meeting yesterday.
According to this decision, the nurseries belonging to the Unified Nursery Institution of the City of Debrecen with County Rights will be closed for four weeks, from July 13 to August 8.
Under the relevant legislation, the summer closure could last up to five weeks, but in Debrecen a shorter, four-week break is customarily observed in the city’s nurseries.
During the closure period, the Ősz Street Branch Institution and the Faraktár Street Branch Institution will provide on-duty services.
Last year there was one on-duty nursery; parents from 11 branch institutions indicated a need for on-duty care for 102 young children. The service was used by 84 children in July and 72 in August, with the actual daily number of children ranging between 46 and 66.
During the closure period, maintenance and renovation work as well as thorough cleaning will be carried out in the nurseries.
