Summer Session concert coming up
The Summer Session is approaching, again a free concert organised by the Debrecen schoolgirl who sings herself.
For a young girl studying graphic design, everyday life is not average. In her spare time, she plays music, sings, and organises events where she also performs on stage. Lia Koncz talked about concert organisation, music, and her future plans.
Despite her young age, Lia is already comfortable on stage and behind the scenes. She is a secondary school girl from Debrecen who, with her enthusiasm and determination, creates the stage and the opportunities not only for herself but also for her fellow musicians. For her, music is not just a hobby but a real community-building force, which she uses to convey cultural values that are important to her.
“The love of music entered my life when I was in primary school, when I started going to music school,” Lia said, who has been passionate about music since the age of 6 and has taken part in many school music events.
But where did the idea to start organising your own events come from?
“We started performing this year and felt it was easiest to do our own events,” Lia explains.
The first party she organised, the Spring Session, was hosted by Bakelit in April. And this summer, the Summer Session will feature Debrecen bands that are shaping the city’s music scene with their fresh energy, original songs, and unique sounds.
The concert will be opened by “hintaLOW” on Saturday, 12 July, at 6.00 p.m. at the SIKK Music Club in Domb Street. The evening will also feature performances by Water Signs, “Háromnegyed” (Three Quarters), Girlfactory, and Lowlanders, and of course host Lia will have a number of surprise songs in store for the audience. She did reveal that she will be performing a cover of one of her personal favourites, a song from the band “Csaknekedkislány.”
“I would like to do event planning in the long term,” Lia shared, adding that although she doesn’t know where her singing career will take her, she is sure she would love to spend time behind the scenes.
“We’ve had almost nothing but positive feedback from everyone so far, so I hope it won’t be any different this time,” Lia added.
With this drive and talent, we can surely expect many more such great musical events from young people in the future.
The Summer Session is free to attend; you can read more about the event here.
