“TalentFactory” initiative launched at BMW Group Plant Debrecen

The “TalentFactory”, based on the “factory in the factory” concept, was opened with a presentation of the first products made by students of the BMW Group Plant Debrecen and the dual vocational training programme of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre.

“What I would like to emphasise is that I gained great practical experience, and this is important for me because here at BMW they use modern technology, and it was definitely decisive for me to be able to apply the knowledge in a modern way and to work in a modern way in practice,” a student of the dual vocational training programme Kristóf Kökényesi pointed out.

“An initiative called “TalentFactory” has been set up at the local BMW plant, where cooperation with the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre creates opportunities for young people to be creative in an industrial environment.

“The programme gives students an insight into the everyday life of our company. They are in constant contact with the production staff, who provide them with various tasks. The students then come up with a design and can then create their ideas, which can be very instructive for them in the long term,” President and CEO of BMW Manufacturing Hungary Ltd. Hans-Peter Kemser said.

One hundred full-time students per year can participate in the BMW Group’s Dual Vocational Training Programme, which offers them the opportunity to take up a full-time position at the German global company after successfully completing the three-year training.

“The intellectual workshop that has been created here is not only for the benefit of the students and their development, but also for the benefit of their teachers. What the legislators dreamed of in VET 4.0 has been implemented here, and is exemplary and a model for the whole country,”  Chancellor of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre said.

As Mayor of Debrecen, László Papp put it, “ A huge change is underway in the automotive industry, which will affect competitiveness and the future of the industry. It is a major challenge for the future of the automotive industry, which is changing the face of the global economy and the future of the automotive industry.”

“I believe that BMW has an extremely good strategy in this respect, but for this strategy to be successful, talent is needed. You need talent, you need to find the young people, the managers of the factory, year after year, who can help this process, who can make this factory a success,” Mayor László Papp stated.

Students from any year of the dual vocational training can participate in the TalentFactory programme and be continuously involved in the work throughout their three-year training.

The students work in teams with continuous mentoring from trainers and guidance from technology at all times, in line with BMW’s premium standards.
