Temporary Closure of Debrecen Sports Swimming Pool Brought Forward Due to Heatwave
Following consultations with the Municipality of Debrecen and Debrecen Waterworks in light of the prolonged heatwave and the need to safeguard the security of the city’s drinking water supply, Debrecen Sportcentrum has announced that the public closure of Sports Swimming Pool will be changed from 8 August to 4 August. According to the operator, the decision is intended to help preserve drinking water reserves and promote responsible water use during the period of extreme heat. As a result of the measure, nearly 400 cubic metres of mains drinking water will be saved over the course of four days.
Accordingly, from 4 August the Sports Swimming Pool will be closed to the general public. Under the revised operating arrangements, the 50-metre pool and the outdoor thermal pool will be out of service, while the 25-metre pool and the teaching pool will remain in operation only to the minimum extent necessary to allow sports training programmes already under way to be completed.
Following the previously scheduled maintenance period, and provided circumstances allow, the Sports Swimming Pool is expected to reopen to the public on 31 August.
