Test run of emission point sources starts at Semcorp’s Debrecen plant
Contrary to press reports, it is not the trial operation that will begin at Semcorp’s Debrecen plant, but the test operation of emission point sources (mainly chimneys) for the time being.
Vice-president of Semcorp Hungary Ltd. Csaba Wolf told Dehir.hu that the composition of the substances generated during the operation and leaving the point sources is continuously measured for six months, and the results are sent to the environmental authority of the county government office every month, which monitors whether the amount of the emitted substances is below the limit. This obviously requires them to operate production lines and machinery.
The so-called technological test run can take place once the test run of the point sources has been completed properly, and series production can start once the technological test run has ended.
According to Csaba Wolf, many workers have been given summer holidays in the last two weeks because they will need their work during the point source test run, which starts next week, and will therefore have less time off.
The Vice President also told us that they currently have more than 440 employees in Debrecen, but they are constantly recruiting and aim to reach their target of 800 by the end of the year.
The company is a world leader in the manufacture of separator foils for electric car batteries, and will produce such products at its plant in the Southern Economic Zone.
