The allergy season has begun
During this period, ragweed and black wormwood cause the most complaints. The expert interviewed by Médiacentrum Debrecen points out that it is always advisable to consult a doctor if symptoms appear.
The recent rainy period has been favorable for weeds, and in the coming days and weeks, pollen concentrations may increase, causing more and more people to experience allergic symptoms.
Currently, it is estimated that one in three people suffer from allergies. Most people use medication, but there are those who try to get through the allergy season using other alternative methods.
According to the expert Médiacentrum interviewed, many people do not go to the doctor but instead buy over-the-counter allergy medication.
Sneezing, nasal congestion, watery eyes, and coughing are the most common symptoms, which are similar to the signs of a summer cold.
“You always have to rule out first whether it is an infection, a cold, or a chill from the air conditioner. In practice, if the symptoms do not go away and you feel worse or develop a fever, you go to your family doctor, who then diagnoses a cold. That’s why I say it would be better for patients to see a doctor right away,” allergist Dr. Erzsébet Takács emphasised.
Allergies most often develop in people between the ages of 30 and 40, but there are also cases where symptoms first appear at an older age.
