The distribution of leaf collection bags has started

Similar to previous years, the Municipality of Debrecen is providing free leaf collection bags to the residents of Debrecen this year, with the cooperation of individual local government representatives.

One of the first locations for the distribution of the bags this year was the Nagysándor estate, where Diána Széles, the local government representative of the district, handed over the bags to applicants on October 14, 2025.

As the representative said on site, “The distribution of free leaf collection bags to the residents of Debrecen started more than ten years ago at the initiative of the Fidesz-KDNP faction of the Debrecen general assembly. All this was done in order for the city to make our environment more beautiful and cleaner in public areas during the autumn leaf fall period, together with the residents.” Diána Széles highlighted that the free distribution of annual flowers in the spring-early summer period is similar to this community urban beautification initiative. Both campaigns are very popular among the people of Debrecen—citizens are counting on them and are preparing for them.

The bag distributions are taking place in all 23 individual local government representative districts of Debrecen at pre-announced times and locations—according to the plans, by October 21 at the latest.

More information about the dates and locations is available here. It is worth paying attention to the information, as the distribution times may change due to weather and other circumstances.

This year, more than 525,000 leaf collection bags can be delivered to the people of Debrecen for free, but in addition, such bags can also be purchased from AKSD Kft. Properly placed leaf collection bags will be collected by AKSD Kft.

Diána Széles emphasized, “We can only work together to make Debrecen cleaner, tidier, more well-kept and greener!”
