The flower floats are already being prepared for the Debrecen Flower Carnival

This year, more than ten gigantic floral compositions will roll through the heart of the city. In addition to the traditional parade, the Galiba Children’s Festival will be held again, and a special community experience will be organised.

The horse, one of the most important symbols of Hungarian identity, will also be on display at this year’s Flower Carnival. One of the designers and sculptors of the flower floats, Sándor Pikó, told DTV News that the focus of his work will be on the movement of the animal.

“You can express so much with a horse; everything is in its movement. My task was to represent the different seasons,” sculptor Sándor Pikó said.

In more than a month the city will be in bloom again. The flower floats are already being built for one of Debrecen’s most spectacular and colourful events. This year, the Flower Carnival will entertain visitors for five days, while the Galiba Children’s Festival will return, and a special community experience is in store for Debrecen’s residents.

“There will be a community flower float, which we will be able to decorate together between 15 and 19 August on Dósa nádor Square. Every day from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. interested parties will be able to come to the event,” managing director of Főnix Event Organiser Ltd., Zita Dobos highlighted.
