Industry 4.0 Demo Truck Arrives in Debrecen

According to Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa, the technologies showcased in the truck will not eliminate jobs but instead create higher value-added opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises.

The Neumann Technology Platform—Industry 4.0 demonstration truck arrived in Debrecen on Monday as part of a national roadshow. The truck can be viewed by interested parties between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the Southern Economic Zone, in the SME Park, at the new premises of Szakály 2000 Kft. The aim of the roadshow is to use the modern tools available in the truck to interactively illustrate the potential of industrial digitalization, primarily for domestic SMEs and interested parties. The organizers also want to draw the attention of local small and medium-sized enterprises to the importance of digitalization, which has become a determining factor in the competitiveness of enterprises.

“Several companies mentioned that they had not yet solved certain problems and that they might be able to use one or more of the solutions. For this reason, they established contact with the manufacturer or distributor,”  Attila Rácz, engineer at Neumann János Nonprofit Ltd., emphasized at the event. ” He added that the chess-playing robot was among the most popular attractions for visitors, since this combination of machine vision and artificial intelligence is not yet widespread in industry and remains unfamiliar to many. There was also considerable interest in the factory simulation program.

According to Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa, it is important for small and medium-sized enterprises to make use of the modern technological platforms showcased in the Industry 4.0 demo truck. “This is crucial, as SMEs play a major role in Debrecen’s economic life in terms of employment. In order to remain competitive with large corporations, the goal must be to manufacture as productively as possible,” he explained, adding that this requires continuous development. The demonstration at the SME Park was designed precisely to highlight such development opportunities.

The Deputy Mayor also expressed his satisfaction that several of the tools displayed in the truck can already be found not only at local companies but also in certain institutions of the Debrecen Vocational Training Center. “This means that our students are already being taught with this technology. SMEs must provide workplaces where the knowledge they acquire can later be put into practice,” he emphasized.

“These technologies do not take away people’s jobs; rather, they can create higher value-added positions that will also have an impact on careers and salaries,” Lajos Barcsa summarized.
