In the section adjacent to the southern economic zone, 200 linden saplings were planted in the ground, as reported by Deputy Mayor Ákos Balázs on social media.
Debrecen will continue its large-scale afforestation programme in line with the sustainability ambitions of the Green Codex. Debrecen residents voted for the Green Codex measures with 60,000 clicks.
The Deputy Mayor underlined that Debrecen is a knowledge-based city. The Future of Debrecen movement has committed itself and the city to knowledge-based and active environmental protection. Our aim is to be at the forefront of environmental solutions and measures – involving partners!
“Over the past five years, Debrecen has been enriched with 500 nursery tree seedlings and 5,000 forestry tree seedlings from 7 Debrecen-based companies,” he added. This time, the saplings donated by CATL were planted together.
The next step will be to continue the tree planting in the area around the North-Western Economic Belt this year, and next year large-scale planting works will start in the area around the Southern Economic Belt.
Ákos Balázs also shared a video of the tree planting on his social media page, which can be viewed here.
