The Municipality of Debrecen is continuously working to eliminate storm damage
The Municipality of Debrecen is continuously cleaning up damage from the destructive storms of July 7-8, 2025. These storms generated an extraordinary amount of green waste in public areas.
The cleanup began on the day of the storms and has continued for weeks. City green areas have been cleaned, tree damage repaired at hundreds of locations, and several thousand cubic meters of green waste have been removed from public spaces. Storm damage transportation work is nearing completion.
Large branches, twigs, and wood waste from private land are also being removed if placed in public areas in front of properties. The local government announced this ongoing effort in a statement on July 10, 2025.
Due to the extensive damage caused by the storm, work is still ongoing to meet the planned end-of-July deadline for removal, with the aim of assisting residents by clearing all green waste resulting from the storm damage.
Until August 15, 2025, the municipality will collect large branches, twigs, and wood waste from private properties that were left in front of properties after the July storm.
The green waste will be assessed by experts from the mayor’s office’s green space department, using photographic documentation. Based on accurate records, the wood waste placed out by August 15 will be removed by August 31.
The Municipality of Debrecen asks for the cooperation of its residents.
