The Municipality of Debrecen is looking after 260 primary school children this summer
The young people will be cared for by around 240 teachers and helpers for 6 weeks, who will entertain them with a number of exciting programmes. The city is implementing the summer holiday childcare with around HUF 15 million.
Creative games, darts, soccer, foosball, and card games also entertained the primary school students on Monday morning. In the Fazekas Mihály Primary School in Debrecen, a total of 260 children are looked after free of charge for 6 weeks.
106 children spend the whole summer here, and around 150-200 children per week use the childcare.
“There are 17 teachers per week, two mornings and two afternoons with the nurses, 8 student workers per day, and 20 staff members. This means that a total of 240 people are working with the children,” head of the DMJV Family and Child Welfare Centre Aurélia Ibolya Orosz highlighted.
During the 6 weeks there will be a lot of colourful activities for the young people. The 9 member organisations of the Debrecen Charity Board have also undertaken activities, including a visit to the Great Church.
‘I am sure that they will learn a lot from each other, and that they will make friendships that will be decisive for the coming year,” President of the Debrecen Charity Board Edit Bódor said.
A special group for children with special educational needs is also available during the summer holidays, with around 12 children being cared for by professionals.
“Our aim is to give those who have a grandparent who is away, for whom it is practically impossible to be with their child during the summer holidays, an opportunity to be safe, in a good place, and to have experiences,” Deputy Mayor Diána Széles emphasised.
This year, the municipality will spend more than HUF 15 million on childcare during the summer holidays.
