The University of Debrecen’s Oncology Clinic proudly marks its 25th anniversary
On the occasion, an anniversary celebration and a scientific conference were held for representatives of the profession on November 28, 2025.
“The city and the University of Debrecen have always embraced teamwork, which is why they jointly developed a health plan and prevention program for the people of Debrecen. As part of this initiative, they also work in close cooperation with the specialists of the Oncology Clinic,” Deputy Mayor Diána Széles explained.
The scientific meeting addressed, among other topics, the advancement of treatment options and the challenges that lie ahead. Experts highlighted that oncology is among the fastest‑developing medical fields, with innovations emerging at an exceptional pace. At the Debrecen Clinical Center, artificial intelligence is already integrated into daily practice: it supports early and precise diagnosis, analyzes medical findings, and can detect even the most subtle changes.
“New opportunities and innovative techniques are constantly emerging, making patient recovery increasingly successful. According to statistical data, we have now reached the point where about two‑thirds of diagnosed patients can expect complete recovery,” Péter Árkosy, Director of the Oncology Clinic at the Clinical Center of the University of Debrecen, said.
