The Petőfi Square on-ramp of the Homokkerti overpass will be closed for more than a month
DKV announced that due to road repair works, the Petőfi Square on-ramp of the Homokkerti overpass will be closed from Monday, July 28, 2025, until Friday, August 29, 2025.
During the works, buses 14, 14Y, 18, 18Y, 30, 30A, 30H, 44, 47, 47Y, 48, 49, 60, 61, Airport 1, and Airport 2 heading towards Tégláskert Street/Széna Square/Bánk/Borzán Gáspár Street/Ozmán Street/Pac/Déli Ipari Park (Southern Economic Zone)/Airport Debrecen will operate on the Petőfi Square–Wesselényi Street–Homokkerti overpass, on-ramp from Wesselényi Street–Homokkerti overpass–Mikepércsi Road diversion route.
During the periods when the Petőfi Square ramp of the Homokkerti overpass is closed, turning from Main Road 4 to Main Road 47 can be done using the western Homokkerti ramp as usual. Meaning, drivers will need to continue past Petőfi Square and make a left turn onto the overpass at the first available, temporarily created opportunity.
This will also make it more difficult to drive off the Homokkerti overpass during the morning rush hour, as those driving towards Petőfi Square will also have to expect cross traffic, as they usually set a traffic light cycle there, which causes vehicles driving towards Petőfi Square to be even more congested than usual.
Exiting the Homokkerti overpass will be more challenging during the morning rush hour. Drivers heading toward Petőfi Square should be ready for cross traffic, as there is usually a traffic light cycle set there. This often leads to increased congestion for vehicles trying to reach Petőfi Square, making traffic even heavier than normal.
