The police presented their work

Police Day was held again on Kossuth Square. Visitors could gain an insight into the everyday lives of police officers through spectacular presentations and exciting programmes. The programme was organised to strengthen the relationship between the population and the authorities.

A large number of Hajdú-Bihar County police officers, with dogs and service vehicles, marched to Kossuth Square, but there was no sign of any crime. The uniformed officers gathered in front of the Great Church on the occasion of the April Police Day and prepared countless colorful activities. Among other things, wall climbing, life-saving tests, and dog and commando demonstrations awaited visitors. Not surprisingly, the “four-legged” ones were the biggest success, but “four-wheelers” with sirens were also very popular.

For years, Police Day has always been held in April to give those interested the opportunity to learn about their work and to engage in dialogue with the uniformed officers. “At such times, there is an opportunity to talk to the police, who can answer questions in the given tents, at the given points, both for children and adults,” Deputy Chief of Police for Crime, Zoltán Illés said.

At the event, Mayor László Papp thanked the police for the high level of public safety in Debrecen. “ Security is extremely important in the life of a city, especially a big city. If a city can be said to be safe, life and all the opportunities open up before it. I can say with great peace of mind that Debrecen is one of the safest cities in Hungary, and indeed in Central Europe,” we heard László Papp say.

Hundreds of people participated in the Police Day.
