The rehabilitation centre of the Pediatric Clinic has been expanded with a modern movement development park

With the support of the Csodalámpa Foundation and the outdoor sports equipment manufacturer BeStrong, a HUF 18 million development project was implemented in the courtyard of the Ibolya Street institution to support children’s aftercare and was handed over on Wednesday.

The children enthusiastically took possession of the special park, created under the shady trees, which was equipped with numerous tools for movement development. The children’s rehabilitation institution provides aftercare for 700 children per week, and the new outdoor exercise park complements the work being done here. “I am convinced that this park is not just a collection of tools, but a space in which development can become a joyful activity through the combination of movement, play, and safety,” Vice President for the Coordination of the Clinical Centre of UD, Ildikó Balatoni, emphasised.

This development is thanks to the selfless support of our donors. The outdoor sports equipment manufacturer BeStrong contributed HUF 6 million to the development of the new park at the children’s rehabilitation centre, and the Csodalámpa Foundation, which launched the initiative, contributed HUF 12 million and has been supporting the pediatric clinic for over two decades.

“We established the foundation to primarily fulfil wishes for sick children and thus give them strength and joy, and this is where our cooperation with the Debrecen Children’s Clinic began, where we have been able to bring joy to more than 630 children over the past 22 years, and we hope that we have also contributed a little to their recovery,” Managing Director and founder of the Csodalámpa Foundation Éva Patzauer explained.

At the handover of the park, Deputy Mayor Diána Széles highlighted the role of physical activity in children’s development and health, praising the collaboration that made the creation of the park possible. “This is a very nice initiative. I think it shows why we say that Debrecen is a caring city. Those of us who work in this field know that we cannot do it without each other and that only by working together can we create the wonders we see here today,” the deputy mayor pointed out.

At the event, Csaba Papp, Director of the Debrecen Institute of Primary Care and Health Promotion, stated that the city offers a wide range of programmes to help children develop their physical activity and health, from school programmes to various special gymnastics activities.
