There will be again an evening parade at the Debrecen Flower Carnival

There will be 12 flower floats and a record number of two thousand performers at this year’s flower carnival.

In addition, those interested can admire the compositions and dancers twice, as the evening parade will also return. For the event on the 20th of August, visitors can tune in to the country’s most colourful event again this year during the program series of the Carnival Week.

LED-lit costumes and acrobat instruments, after dark on the 20th of August will not be a surprise in Debrecen. At this year’s flower carnival, after many years of absence, there will be an evening parade again. The dancers also showed a taste of the daytime procession at the press conference of the Flower Carnival. This year, more dancers than ever before will colour the procession.

“This year’s carnival will be one of the most impressive in the history of parades, as the flower carts will be accompanied by two thousand paraders. It will be a record-breaking number, with seven bands and ten foreign groups,” Managing Director of Főnix Event Organizer Ltd. Réka Mészáros pointed out.

The Carnival Week starting on the 15th of August will tune interested parties into this year’s parade. As part of this, the Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bohemian Betyars and violinist Roby Lakatos also give concerts in front of the Great Church in the evenings.

This year’s most colourful and flowery week of the city will not miss the Galiba Children’s Festival, the Night Ride’s illuminated bicycle parade, and various exhibitions either.

Deputy Mayor of Debrecen István Puskás said that the event, which is a result of broad cooperation, shows how important the Flower Carnival is in the city. “In addition to commemorating the state holiday, the founding of the state, St. Stephen’s Day and having fun with a traditional but ever-changing programme, bringing together diverse communities is a great strength and virtue of the Flower Carnival”, he highlighted.

CATL Debrecen will be the main sponsor of the Flower Carnival and Carnival Week. “We consider it very important that wherever we operate a factory, we currently operate 12 factories around the world, we become part of the local community and play an active role,” Communications and PR Manager of CATL Debrecen Noémi Sidró said.

This year’s Debrecen Flower Carnival will feature 12 compositions, the largest of which will be a special dragon.
