This Is How the New BMW iX3 Comes to Life in Debrecen
A video shared recently on Mayor László Papp’s social media page shows how production of the brand-new BMW iX3 model is taking place at the BMW plant in Debrecen. The footage shows the full arc of the manufacturing process, from the press shop through the body shop all the way to quality assurance.
The fully electric BMW iX3 is the first mass-produced member of the Neue Klasse model family, with production having started at the end of last October.
On the European market, the BMW iX3 accounts for roughly one-third of the manufacturer’s new-car orders, and with current capacities, most of the units produced at the Debrecen plant have already been sold in advance. According to press reports, the model is effectively sold out through the end of 2026.
Due to the increased demand, BMW is considering modifying its plans. According to information from AutoNews and Der Spiegel, the German automaker is also weighing the introduction of a second shift at the Debrecen plant in order to prevent order fulfillment from slipping from 2027 to an even later date.
The German press also highlighted that the iX3 is particularly popular in Germany: in the first six weeks, more than three thousand orders were received, and every third buyer is a private customer who had not previously driven a BMW. A special aspect of the interest in the model is that most orders were placed without a test drive, as test drives will only become available in the spring months.
