This year’s Debrecen Flower Carnival was once again a vibrant spectacle of color

Staying true to nearly six decades of tradition, the most elaborate event celebrating August 20, 2025, was the Debrecen Flower Carnival.

Visitors had the chance to admire twelve stunning floral compositions, including creations representing the Holy Crown, the cities of Oradea and Debrecen, and floats sponsored by TEVA Pharmaceutical Company, the Hungarian Post, Fórum Debrecen shopping center, BMW Group Plant Debrecen, Debrecen Asset Management Company, the Debrecen Vocational Training Center, Richter Gedeon Plc., and CATL. Two artistic floats also stood out: one titled “From the Sun to the Moon,” and a community float called “The Power of Hug.”

The carnival procession featured a wide array of Hungarian performing groups. Among them were the 75-year-old Debrecen Folk Ensemble and the United Szilágyság Orchestra, alongside dance troupes, majorette teams, youth orchestras, and cultural associations from across the country. These included groups such as the Debrecen Hajdú Dance Ensemble, the Debrecen Majorette Ensemble, the Debrecen Zenede Youth Orchestra, Piruett Dance Studio, Feeling Dance and Majorette Association, Modern Dance-Play Studio, Lesz Dance Association, Debrecen Perka Club, Level Up Dance Studio, Főnix Children and Youth Folk Dance Ensemble, Hortobágy Folk Dance Ensemble, Valcer Dance Studio, R & B Dance Hip Hop School, the Nádudvar Majorette, Hórvölgye Brass & Drummers, Megyaszó Orchestra, Forgórózsa Dance Ensemble Debrecen, Dance Universe Dance and Sports Association, Szihalom Orchestra, Hungarian-Chinese National Art and Cultural Association (Previ Team), Diamond Fitness Sports Association, Vespa Club Debrecen, Four Elements, Move, Debrecen! dance group, Debrecen Garrison Band, and the talented students of Ady Endre High School in Debrecen.

Foreign groups participating in the carnival parade: Stelzen Art (Germany) and the Zichy Géza Youth Orchestra; Folk Dance Ensemble “Abrasevic” Sabac (Serbia); Bragi Culture Art Sports Club (Turkey); ASTA – Gruppo Sbandieratori del Palio di Asti (Italy); Comparsa Shambala (Spain); Ballet Ópera (Spain); Sport Club “Ritmika” Sumen (Bulgaria); Batala International (Brazil).

Altogether, the carnival parade featured 2,100 performers. As in previous years, the celebration continued into the evening with a dazzling night parade.
