Traffic Restrictions on Route 354
The first phase of the project to connect Main Road No. 354 and Main Road No. 33 is being implemented by Duna Aszfalt Zrt. as a contractor of the Ministry of Construction and Transport. According to information provided by the company, traffic restrictions will need to be reintroduced on Main Road No. 354 from Monday, 16 March 2026 due to the works.
A new approximately 1.5-kilometre-long, 2×1-lane rural road section will be constructed between Main Road No. 354 and Vezér Street, which is under the management of the City of Debrecen. As part of the development, a new grade-separated junction will also be created at kilometre section 2+583 of Main Road No. 354. The intervention begins at the intersection of Vezér Street and Domokos Márton Street, from where the new road will continue northwards from Domokos Márton Street and connect to Main Road No. 354 via the grade-separated junction.
In order to carry out demolition, earthworks and road-pavement construction, as well as later bridge-construction works, it is necessary to reintroduce the temporary traffic restriction previously applied and proven to function properly during the construction of the bridge’s central support on Main Road No. 354.
Between kilometre sections 1+700 and 3+100 of Main Road No. 354, the existing 2×2 lanes will be reduced to 2×1 lanes. The restriction is expected to remain in force from 16 March 2026 until mid-September 2026.
The installation of the bridge girders for the structure being built over Main Road No. 354 is expected to take place in the first half of April 2026, depending on weather conditions. During the lifting of the girders, the construction of scaffolding and the necessary specialist works, temporary partial road closures with police traffic control are expected. This work is anticipated to take approximately two days per stage. During working hours, traffic stoppages are expected to follow a schedule of 10–15 minutes of stoppage followed by 20 minutes of traffic release.
Duna Aszfalt Zrt. kindly asks road users for their understanding and patience regarding any inconvenience that may arise during the construction works.
