Trains to Run on a More Modern Line Between Debrecen and Nagykereki

The renovation of railway line No. 106, running between Debrecen and Nagykereki, has become a political issue in Debrecen. In October, the association “Mikepércs Mothers for the Environment” held a demonstration to draw attention to the Debrecen–Nagykereki railway line, which they say is a popular route that many people used.

MÁV Group CEO Zsolt Hegyi spoke about the railway line on Médiacentrum Debrecen’s program HírPONT Extra, stating that the line between Debrecen and Nagykereki needs to be replaced.

However, a fortunate situation has arisen, as there has long been a plan for a railway line providing a direct connection between Debrecen and Berettyóújfalu, which can fully replace the current branch line between Debrecen and Sáránd alongside the existing route, he emphasized.

As he said, when this development is implemented, they will be able to reopen this line in such a way that trains will run on a more modern track between Debrecen and Sáránd, and passengers will be able to travel under better conditions, he emphasized.
