University of Debrecen to Host 4th Compliance Conference

The University of Debrecen is organising its Compliance Conference for the fourth time, with this year’s focus on the safe and responsible operation of organisations. The event will explore how risks can be identified and managed in a rapidly changing regulatory, economic and technological environment.

One of the key topics will be economic security and organisational resilience. In his opening presentation, economic security and resilience expert György Kossa will discuss the challenges posed by the changed risk environment, while Zsuzsanna Herman, Director of Compliance at the University of Debrecen, will present the expected impact of the new EU anti-corruption directive that must be transposed into Hungarian law by 1 June 2028.

The conference will also examine which areas companies and institutions should already be reviewing, from managing corruption risks and conducting due diligence on third parties to reporting misconduct. Lawyer János Rausch will give a presentation on criminal-law measures applicable to legal entities, while Barnabás Farkas, Head of the Integrity Department at OTP Bank, will demonstrate EU anti-corruption expectations through banking practice. Gábor Agócs, President of the Hungarian Chamber of Auditors, will discuss solutions that can also be applied by small and medium-sized enterprises.

Further topics will include artificial intelligence and data protection, as well as the relationship between Compliance 4.0 and organisational adaptability. As in previous years, the professional presentations will be complemented by a panel discussion.

The organisers expect company and institutional managers, lawyers, compliance and data protection professionals, internal auditors, auditors, as well as those working in finance, HR, procurement and risk management to attend.

The fourth Compliance Conference will be held on 1 October 2026 in the Aula of the Main Building of the University of Debrecen. University employees and students may attend the event free of charge following prior registration. The conference is worth four credit points in both the systems of the Hungarian Bar Association and the Hungarian Chamber of Auditors.

Information about the programme, registration and further details is available here.
