University professors celebrated an anniversary

The Professors’ Club of the University of Debrecen is celebrating its 15th anniversary.

In the anniversary year, special programmes are being organised for the club members. The highlight of the series of events is the festive gala, which was held today at the University of Debrecen.

Fifteen years ago, the Professors’ Club of the University of Debrecen was established with just over twenty members. The society, which has already developed within the integrated university system, operates independently of religious and political views. The club’s programme to strengthen scientific dialogue has paid off: more and more young professors are joining the club, so today, the scientific community has about two hundred and ten members.

“It was a fantastic opportunity, both then and now, for professors from different faculties and fields of the university to find a place where they can connect, talk, exchange ideas, and organise scientific meetings,” co-chairman of the Professors Club Mihály Duffek said.

Last November, the Professors’ Club was able to admire the renovated Old Town Hall building under the leadership of Mayor László Papp. This is just one of the many events in which the city and the Professors’ Club cooperate, and the mayor himself has been an honorary member of the association since 2019. At the Professors’ Club’s anniversary event, László Papp emphasised that science and education play a significant role in building the city of Debrecen.

The Professors’ Club of the University of Debrecen celebrated its 15th anniversary with a gala event held in the auditorium of the university’s main building.
