Water is also distributed at the Debrecen train and bus stations in the heat
“In view of the introduction of the third-degree heat alert ordered by the national chief medical officer, the MÁV group will provide free water to its passengers at the busiest stations from June 24 to 26,” the transport company announced. Bottled water is distributed daily between 10.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. at the platforms at the main railway stations in Budapest, and at the passenger centres, customer services and ticket offices at the larger regional railway stations. They will also provide refreshments to our passengers at the Volán Budapest, Népliget and Kelenföld bus stations, as well as at the bus stations with higher traffic in the county seats, and at the four main termini of the HÉV. The MÁV group can provide water until supplies last.
In Budapest, people waiting for trains can get free water at the platforms at the Déli, Keleti, Nyugati Railway Stations and Rákospalota–Újpest (during the Rákos track closure), in the countryside at the customer service at the Debrecen, Győr, Miskolc, Nyíregyháza, Szeged, Pécs, Székesfehérvár, Szolnok stations, and at the ticket offices at the Békéscsaba, Celldömölk, Fonyód, Kecskemét, Nagykanizsa, Siófok, Tapolca and Veszprém stations. In most of these places, student workers also take part in distributing the bottles.
Volán distributes mineral water, subject to availability, at two locations in Budapest and at bus stations with higher traffic in the county towns: Balatonfüred, Békéscsaba, Budapest at the Kelenföld and Népliget bus stations, Debrecen, Eger, Győr, Kaposvár, Kecskemét, Miskolc, Nyíregyháza, Pécs, Salgótarján, Szeged, Székesfehérvár, Szekszárd, Szolnok, Szombathely, Tatabánya, Veszprém and Zalaegerszeg.
The mineral water will be distributed by the MÁV Group daily between 10.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m. until supplies last and as long as the heat alert makes it necessary.
Passengers are asked to present their valid tickets and season tickets when collecting the water.
Passengers are also asked to take sufficient drinking water or thirst-quenching liquid with them on their journey.
