Wizz Air Now Flies Four Times a Week Between Debrecen and London

Following strikes in February and early April, Lufthansa pilots have once again announced industrial action, leading to the cancellation of hundreds of flights. However, as before, the work stoppage does not impact the Debrecen service: the German airline’s aircraft continue to operate between Debrecen and Munich, as confirmed by Debrecen International Airport Kft.

Passenger traffic at the airport is steadily increasing. Recently, Wizz Air increased the frequency of its Debrecen–London flights from three to four per week, now operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Although the airline originally planned to introduce the increased frequency on 5 April, it was brought forward to 29 March. According to Debrecen International Airport Kft., flights to London have consistently operated with high load factors, which justified the decision to expand capacity—and the aircraft continue to be well filled.

It was also recently reported that, after the winter break, Wizz Air has resumed its service from Debrecen to Larnaca in Cyprus. The airline operates this route twice weekly, with the last scheduled flight set for 24 October, after which it will again pause for the winter season.

From 2 May, flights to Eindhoven in the Netherlands will also resume, operating twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

On 1 July, Wizz Air will restart its Debrecen–Istanbul route. Flights between Turkey’s largest city and Debrecen will run twice weekly, on Wednesdays and Sundays.

During the summer, passengers will also be able to travel to Varna, one of Bulgaria’s most popular holiday destinations. Flights will operate three times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays—from 16 June.

Meanwhile, the first charter flight has also been announced: travellers will once again be able to fly from Debrecen to Sunny Beach in Bulgaria with a charter service operated by Robinson Tours. According to the schedule, flights will run once weekly from 15 June until the end of August.

Debrecen International Airport Kft. has also indicated that further announcements regarding summer charter flights are expected in the near future.
