Debrecen’s road traffic would also be greened by the cooperation agreement signed yesterday by the Xanga Group with Ghibli Transport Ltd. at the Business Fest. According to the contract, the goods transport company will lease a 22,000 square metre warehouse, which is planned to be used for the storage of finished goods. The two groups also plan to operate a rail terminal in the future.
Work is already underway on the warehouse, the lease of which has just been agreed between the Xanga Group and Ghibli Transport Ltd.The professional partnership between the two companies dates back several years, with the freight transport specialist company renting around 10,000 square metres of space from the Xanga Group.
“In this framework, our partner Ghibli is already renting a warehouse from us in our logistics centre at the airport, and under our joint agreement we are developing a 22,000 square metre logistics warehouse, which will be used by Ghibli in the coming years,” Director of Xanga Group László Herdon said.
Based in Budapest, Ghibli is active in road, rail, sea and air freight transport, as well as warehouse logistics and customs services.
“ If we assume that the five biggest factories that are located here, BMW, the battery manufacturer and the companies that serve them, have a daily output of 50 trucks and an incoming volume of 50 trucks, that’s 2,500 trucks a week, 10,000 trucks a month. As far as possible, this traffic should be greened and shifted to the railways,”Strategy and Business Development Director of Ghibli Transport Ltd.Tamás Fábián said.
The new hall would be used primarily for warehousing of finished goods, which could also help to relieve the road infrastructure of the Southern Industrial Park. The aim is to boost rail freight traffic.
The freight forwarder is scheduled to take possession of the 22,000 square metre warehouse next April, and plans to lease two additional warehouses in 2025 and 2026, doubling its storage capacity.
