Zebra Crossing on Erzsébet Street Reopens to Pedestrians

Works at the pedestrian crossing located at the intersection of Erzsébet Street and Petőfi Square have been completed, and the zebra crossing has now been reopened to the public.

As previously reported, a temporary traffic management scheme was introduced in the area due to the construction of a water main junction, and the pedestrian crossing was closed. During the works, some people attempted to pass through the barriers despite the fact that crossing the closed section was prohibited and posed a significant safety risk.

With the completion of the works, pedestrian traffic can once again use the Erzsébet Street zebra crossing in the usual manner. Following the removal of the restrictions, people travelling through the area no longer need to use alternative routes.

As reported previously, drinking water pipeline reconstruction works at the Erzsébet Street–Petőfi Square junction are progressing according to schedule. The utility company emphasised that the project involves the renewal of a more than 70-year-old section of pipeline that plays a vital role in the city’s water supply system. The investment is intended to ensure a safe and reliable drinking water supply for tens of thousands of residents.
