New Hope Baptist Church Prayer House Receives Its Cross in Debrecen

The final stages of assembly are underway on the three-meter-high cross intended for the New Hope Baptist Church’s prayer house. An industrial machinery manufacturing company whose managing director is a member of the congregation offered to produce and install the cross.

“It is a joy for me that the congregation was able to embark on such a construction project, and like the others, I also try to take my share in whatever way I can. We usually work with metal structures, and I was honored with the opportunity to make the cross,” said Dávid Rozsályi, managing director of DRD Technologies Kft.

The cross is a steel-framed structure made of angle iron and finished with hot-dip galvanization. Members of the congregation eagerly awaited the moment when the cross would be mounted at the highest point of the Epreskert Street building with the help of a massive crane.

In addition to the prayer house built through the cooperation of the government, the local municipality, and the Baptist community, a community park, playground, and sports field will also be developed later. Construction is progressing according to plan.

“Interior work has begun: insulation and the installation of ventilation systems are underway. Now that the building is under roof and the roofing has been completed, it is possible to carry out further work. Despite the cold, the construction colleagues are performing admirably,” emphasized Sándor Tóth, pastor of the New Hope Baptist Church.

The 2,200-square-meter center is scheduled for completion by this summer, and in the next phase a kindergarten and a nursery will also be built on the site, allowing the complex to serve as a true community center.
