Hungary 365 Photo Contest: Debrecen‑Born Photographer’s Winning Image Now on Display at the Kölcsey Center Exhibition
“Pine Marten in the Thicket” by Csaba Daróczi won first prize in the nature category this year.
The Debrecen-born photographer has been living his passion since 1992, and by his own account, natural phenomena interest him the most. This year, photographers submitted entries in the themes of landscape, architecture, culture, sport, and everyday life scenes.
“This competition has been running since 2019. We thought that both professionals and amateurs needed such a challenge. In the first year, 21,000 images were submitted; in the last three years, 45,000 images have been submitted each year,” highlighted photographer Ottó Kaiser, chairman of the jury.
The competition aims to showcase Hungary’s natural and cultural treasures. The Kölcsey Center in Debrecen is displaying more than fifty works of talented creators.
“It is very important in today’s world to present Hungary’s wonderful built and natural values, as we tend to focus only on negative or bad things and to exaggerate them somewhat. These photographs may help us see that we live in a wonderful country and a wonderful world,” pointed out city councillor Edina Szilágyi.
The award-winning works can be viewed until the end of March.
