Music Highlights in Debrecen This March

Open-air concerts are beginning at the Water Tower, the fifth Made in Debrecen Festival will be held, and tickets for events at the best-known concert venues are selling out rapidly. If you want to start spring on a lively note, this article highlights a few concerts well worth attending. In addition to those listed, each venue is preparing numerous further events so that everyone can find something to suit their taste.

Saturday 7 March: Vad Fruttik in concert at Klinika University Club
Honest lyrics, powerful melodies and an uplifting atmosphere await all, where thought-provoking moments and carefree dancing sit comfortably side by side. This concert is equally aimed at long-standing fans and those who are just discovering the band’s world.

Friday 13 March: Sziámi Andfriends at the Water Tower
The formation is known for its energetic songs with an intellectual lyrical style. Their aim is to preserve and pass on the values of Hungarian alternative music to the next generation.

Wednesday 18 March: Campus Party at HALL
The Campus party series is one of the most popular event series among university students and the younger generation, featuring performers from electronic music, hip hop, rap and many other genres. On 18 March, Viktória Metzker will provide the energetic atmosphere.

Saturday 21 March: Made in Debrecen Festival
This event is far more than a traditional music festival: Made in Debrecen is an occasion where the local community, cultural identity and creative musical life all take centre stage. The streets, clubs and community spaces of the city centre are transformed into concert venues, offering visitors a full day of musical experiences. Admission to all venues and concerts is free of charge.

Monday 23 March: Concert of Favourite Classics at the Kölcsey Centre
This special concert transports the audience into the world of classical music, passionate tangos and world-famous film scores. Gems of the violin repertoire, musical excerpts and even the mysterious sound of the theremin will be heard.

Saturday 28 March: Magyar Banda in concert at the Lovarda
Magyar Banda’s identity is defined by a distinctive yet tradition-respecting musical approach and a creative outlook that consciously avoids repetition. The band’s line-up is built upon the defining instruments of Hungarian folk music, offering audiences an authentic yet fresh sound.
