DEMKI Announces Drawing Contest and Street Exhibition

The Debrecen Cultural Centre and Youth House (DEMKI) is preparing an exciting outdoor exhibition and creative competition ahead of the upcoming Children’s Day.

The street art exhibition titled “Family and City through Children’s Eyes – My City, My Family” will showcase the works of local kindergarten and primary school children to the general public. Organisers are encouraging children in Debrecen to create freely and to draw or paint their experiences related to the city and family life. Completed artworks must be delivered to the Újkert Community House by 12:00 p.m. on 26 May.

An exihibit compiled from the submitted drawings will be open to visitors from 15:00 to 19:00 next to the Maltese playground on Lehel Street on 29 May, as part of the Újkert Children’s Day event titled “Strength in Community”. Visitors will also be able to take an active part in the event, as they will have the opportunity to vote for the most beautiful or most creative drawings until 18:00. The creator of the audience favourite will receive a valuable family ticket as a prize. The results will be announced on site at approximately 18:40.
