New Community Spaces Added to BeugRoom in Downtown Debrecen
From now on, a podcast studio and a new co-working space are also available at BeugRoom, allowing young people to realise their various ideas and projects in an office-style environment. Csilla Papp said that the studio had long been planned and that there was also a strong need for a co-working space.
János Halász D., Managing Director of the operating organisation DEMKI, also noted that young people can make use of the computers, printer and photocopier. In addition, the community space has been expanded with an anonymous mental health and counselling office, as well as career guidance and prevention services.
In his welcoming speech, Mayor László Papp highlighted that more than 80,000 students study in Debrecen, and that the city seeks to maintain an active dialogue with them. Various programmes are intended to help establish and strengthen this connection. As he explained, the city wants to allocate a larger budget next year in order to launch discussions with Debrecen’s students and young people about why it is good to be a student in the city.
The development of the community space located in Gambrinusz Passage was completed with an investment of HUF 5 million, of which nearly HUF 4 million was awarded to the city through a grant from the Ministry of Culture and Innovation. Young people can register for BeugRoom through DEMKI.
