Primal Forces to End Concert Season for Kodály Philharmonia Debrecen

Audiences will be able to experience the elemental power of classical music at during Kodály Philhamonia’s season-closing concerts titled “Primal Force” on 5 and 6 June at Kölcsey Centre.

Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor is not merely a virtuoso piano work but the imprint of a rise from a profound creative crisis. Every note carries the struggle within and the individual’s gradual spiritual ascent through music.

In the second half, the focus expands from the individual to the cosmos, with Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 ‘Resurrection’ exploring the fundamental questions of human existence. The evening’s performers include mezzo-soprano Gabriella Balga, contralto Atala Schöck, Italian pianist Giovanni Bertolazzi, the Cantemus Choir of Nyíregyháza, as well as the Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra and the Kodály Choir (Chorus Director: Zoltán Kocsis-Holper). Conducting the performance will be Alexander Sladkovsky, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Tatarstan National Symphony Orchestra.

Tickets are available at 4-6 Simonffy Street and Kölcsey Centre as well as online.
