Call for Applications for “Cívis” House of the Year Award – 2026
The General Assembly of the Municipality of Debrecen established the “Cívis” House of the Year Award in 2023 with the aim of recognising buildings that reflect Debrecen’s architectural traditions and civic identity. The municipality has announced a call for applications for the award in 2026.
The purpose of the competition is to reward traditional-style residential buildings that contribute to preserving the city’s historic character and strengthening local identity. These buildings, through the quality of their architecture and plot use, provide a high standard of everyday living while serving as exemplary features of the townscape and streetscape, ensuring that the buildings meet modern requirements, including the planned use of renewable energy sources. The competition also seeks to showcase good examples and best practices in order to preserve and enhance the built environment. It recognises the financial commitment involved in protecting Debrecen’s architectural heritage, as well as the ongoing efforts required for the proper maintenance, preservation of value, and responsible stewardship of buildings.
The full text of the call for applications and its annexes (application forms and declarations) are available here.
