Schaeffler Supports Debrecen Airport Run’s Equal Opportunity Race as Title Sponsor
In addition to supporting motorsport and cultural events, Schaeffler also backs initiatives that promote equality and encourage the reduction of social barriers, the company said on its website. In the spirit of inclusion, the motion technology company is serving as the title sponsor of the Debrecen Airport Run’s Equal Opportunity Race, helping to create a shared sporting experience for participants with physical disabilities and other disabilities.
Held for the ninth time this September, the airport running event gives participants the rare opportunity to run on a runway normally used by aircraft. Competitors can take part over several distances, either individually or as members of relay teams. Thanks to Schaeffler’s support, a special 1-kilometre fun run will also enable people who would not otherwise have the opportunity to participate to be part of the event.
“Schaeffler Equal Opportunity Race is not simply a sporting event; it is also a platform for conveying an important social message. We firmly believe that sport is for everyone, and that the power of shared experiences can break down all barriers. That is why we decided to support this inspiring event, and we hope to welcome hundreds of participants to this special race once again this year,” said Péter Szabó, Managing Director of Schaeffler Debrecen.
This year’s Debrecen Airport Run will be memorable not only for local runners and those travelling to the city for the event, but also for Schaeffler employees. The company has long encouraged colleagues at its Debrecen site to take part, but this year participation has been extended to employees across the entire Schaeffler Group, regardless of where in the world they work.
In 2026, Schaeffler launched the Global Integration Running Series, an international running series spanning eight locations, with the Debrecen Airport Run serving as one of its events. The initiative aims to strengthen employees’ sense of belonging within the Schaeffler community while highlighting the importance of teamwork throughout the company’s integration process. The 4 × 2.5 km relay race offers colleagues from different sites an opportunity to get to know one another better and to overcome personal challenges together on the airport runway.
