Children’s Activities, Journey Through History, and Live Music in Downtown Debrecen This Weekend

Another weekend of the Downtown – Love It event series is coming up, offering a wide range of activities from family-friendly entertainment and cultural experiences to outdoor music events. Take a look at the detailed programme and choose your favourites.

Available Throughout the Weekend:

“Zoo Portraits” – Photography exhibition by Roland Eszenyi in cooperation with Zoo Debrecen (26 Piac Street)
Striking animal portraits showcasing the personalities and diversity of the zoo’s residents.

SATURDAY, 15 AUGUST

15:00–17:00 | Flower Courtyard Kids by DEMKI Youth House (Gambrinus köz with entry from Piac Street)
During the afternoon, children can enjoy face painting, hair braiding, flower-themed crafts and traditional wooden skill games.

15:30–16:30 | Concert by Tibor Réti

17:00–17:10 | Performance by the Nixy Dance and Majorette Association, followed by a dance procession to the courtyard of DEMKI Youth House

Craft exhibitors’ occasional showcases (45 Piac Street)
Visitors can browse a selection of unique handmade products, gifts, jewellery and works of art by local creators.

11:00–12:00 | Themed guided tour at the Debrecen Bicycle Museum (30 Piac Street)
Attila Katona, curator of the collection, will give a free guided tour exploring the development of the bicycle from 1817 to the present day. A cool environment and chilled refreshments will also be available to visitors.

18:00–22:00 | DayTime Party by TABU Debrecen Dance & Night Club (28/C Piac Street)
An outdoor DJ event, summer beats and a great atmosphere await anyone looking to party.

18:00–22:00 | DayTime Party by PINCE Café & Music Club (38 Piac Street)
Outdoor music, DJ sets and a pleasant summer evening atmosphere await visitors.

SUNDAY, 16 AUGUST

16:00–17:00 | Exploring Markets and Crafts – A Journey Back in Time by Nóra Erdei and Explore Debrecen (meeting point at the glass pyramid next to the Great Reformed Church)
A special themed walking tour exploring the world of historic markets, national fairs, traditional crafts and guilds, while also showing how Debrecen’s heritage lives on in the city centre today. Participation is free, but advance registration is required via exploredebrecen@gmail.com due to limited capacity.

11:00–12:00 | Themed guided tour at the Debrecen Bicycle Museum (30 Piac Street)
Attila Katona, curator of the collection, will give a free guided tour exploring the development of the bicycle from 1817 to the present day. A cool environment and chilled refreshments will also be available to visitors.

All programmes are free to attend but organisers reserve the right to make changes to the programme.
