Water and Road Network Upgrades Progressing Well in Szepes
Work is continuing in Debrecen-Szepes, where the water supply network is being upgraded alongside the renewal of the road network. Access to the district is currently restricted due to the construction works, but the work is being carried out in stages to minimise disruption to local traffic. The investment is expected to be completed in early December.
The development of the water supply network is continuing in the southern part of Szepes, with the second phase of the construction works affecting the built-up area of Szepes. The contractor is carrying out the work in 100-metre sections to minimise inconvenience for local residents. “Life is a little more difficult than usual, but a major positive is that the people doing the work, particularly those laying the pipes, are extremely considerate and always ask what they can do to make things easier for us. They keep traffic moving and ensure that access routes remain open. They complete the work ahead of schedule so that there are no disruptions,” said resident László Gellért.
During the works, Debrecen-Szepes can be accessed from Main Road 481. On the side towards Vértesi Road, the utility construction works have already been completed and road construction is currently under way, but Szepes still cannot be accessed from this direction. The contractor continues to provide the affected residents with county motorway vignettes free of charge for use of the relevant motorway sections. “This is a section of approximately two kilometres. We are planning to renew the road and the bus stops, and it should also be mentioned that a speed camera station was installed here previously, which we would also like to implement once the road construction has been completed,” said city councillor Zoltán Piros.
The entire construction project is expected to be completed in early December.
