Electronic Music Studio Coming to BeugRoom
School, expectations, relationships, decisions, the future – there are many things that can cause stress for young people. Secondary school students were invited to an interactive event titled When Everything Feels Like Too Much at Beugroom on 1 October 2026.
With the help of Béla Szilárd Juhász, member of staff at the University of Debrecen, participants explored topics such as feeling overwhelmed and overthinking, gaining insight into how to recognise the signs of stress in time and what methods can be used to manage it. The event was held as part of the project entitled The Vibration of Youth.
Before the event, Deputy Mayor István Puskás said that BeugRoom – a welcoming and friendly daytime community space operated by DEMKI, created two years ago in the basement of Gambrinus Alley in response to the needs and with the active involvement of secondary school students – is continually expanding its range of activities. In addition to serving as an event venue for student council programmes and rehearsals by student theatre groups, a podcast studio and a discussion room were added in the spring, while young people interested in the world of businesses and start-ups can also find a home here in a space suitable for co-working. In the coming weeks, an existing community electronic music studio will also move into the venue, where young people can familiarise themselves with technical equipment used to create music and even make their own recordings. István Puskás also noted that cooperation between BeugRoom and DEMKI’s nearby youth centre on Simonffy Street will create a network of facilities capable of supporting a wide range of activities that interest young people, engage them or are considered necessary by them. Young people themselves will, of course, be able to suggest activities as part of discussions and joint planning that DEMKI will organise in the near future with this in mind.
Imre Enyedi, DEMKI’s new managing director, thanked the professional partners – the Forrás Mental Health Support Centre, the Lelkierő Fiatalon a Fiatalokért Association, the Social and Development Centre of the Hungarian Interchurch Aid, and the “Helping Hand” Helpline – for their professional cooperation in supporting activities for young people.
Information about Beugroom’s free services – including anonymous counselling on mental health and addiction-related issues – and bookings for these services are available via the beugroom.hu website.
