Road Construction Complete on Csuka Street
As in previous years, road construction projects initiated by residents are continuing in Debrecen in 2026 under the D2030 programme. A solid road surface has been laid along 280 metres of Csuka Street in Pércsikert.
As part of the project, a solid road surface with a kerb on one side was laid along 280 metres of Csuka Street. The pavements on both sides were also renovated to improve pedestrian access. The new asphalt surface is 4 metres wide between Keresztesi Street and Új Street, and 3 metres wide between Új Street and Dévai Street. Rainwater drainage is provided by the previously constructed underground drainage system. Plants removed during the works have also been replanted.
István Kovács, city councillor for the area, highlighted in his briefing that the professionals completed the road construction work in a short time. The project began in August, and the new road section was essentially completed by the beginning of October. The councillor also said that the traffic arrangements on Csuka Street have changed slightly. Two-way traffic has been introduced on the section between Keresztesi Street and Új Street, while between Új Street and Szép Street, traffic is one-way towards Szép Street. The section between Szép Street and Dévai Street is also one-way, likewise towards Szép Street.
For residents, a long-held wish has now come true as they can travel on a safe and modern road. This is a relatively busy road section, particularly during the morning and afternoon peak periods, which is why the project was timely, István Kovács added.
The total cost of the development is HUF 124 million.
