Road construction on Zelemér Street completed

The details were presented at a press conference by the local government representatives of the districts affected, Aurélia Ibolya Orosz and Zoltán Piros on 6th September 2024.

As mentioned, Zelemér Street is in the Postakert district, Aurélia Ibolya Orosz’s constituency. Still, the street itself belongs to the district of Zoltán Piros. The investment has benefited both districts.

As Zoltán Piros explained, Zelemér Street, between Postakert Street and János Földi Street, has been paved with a total length of 375 metres, 5 metres wide, with a kerb on both sides and a single kerb on one side. As part of the project, around 300 metres of closed stormwater drainage channels and street lighting were installed in the missing sections. The investment was carried out within the framework of the Debrecen 2030 programme – which, as the city’s economy continues to grow, provides more and more opportunities for development – and was based on requests and signals from residents, with a gross investment of HUF 129 million. The representative also mentioned several small and large-scale investments in the Vargakert district adjacent to the Postakert. Zoltán Piros highlighted the ongoing renewal of the pavements, the construction of the new playground in Közép Street, the energy modernisation of the Kindergarten in Közép Street and the construction of the crèche in Zelemér Street. Finally, he thanked the residents for their patience and understanding about the road works on Zelemér Street and wished them safe driving.

Aurélia Ibolya Orosz also expressed her satisfaction with completing the Zelemér Street project. She recalled that the residents of Földi János Street and Gyár Street requested her to follow the works and convey the requests and suggestions of the residents there. Both the city administration and the contractor considered these to be justified, and as a result, for example, a gateway was built, and improvements were made to the drainage of rainwater in Gyár Street. The representative mentioned other improvements in her constituency, such as renovating a small section of pavement at the entrance to the kindergarten on Szoboszlói Street to make it easier for children to get to the school. On Széchenyi Street, the renovation of the pavements is also ongoing to make the streets safer and more comfortable for residents and pedestrians.
